After an informative day of workshops, meetings, a After an informative day of workshops, meetings, and lectures @ramblinghemlock went higher into the nearby mountains to check out some canyons on the map. As with many of our recent trips, we went on a hunch, looked at some maps, and found some oblique references in academic journals.

We saw evidence of many different eras - pre-1920s ranching days, Ute images, and much evidence of Ancestral Pueblo habitation.

@ramblinghemlock and I spent a weekend at an isolated car camping spot and based ourselves out of it for the weekend. If we hiked and roamed canyons last weekend, we walked along rim-top and nearby placed to see areas towards the latter years of the Ancestral Pueblo settlements in this location.
