This weekend I dropped Joan off at the Grand Junction airport so she could fly out to backpack with a friend and complete the Pacific Crest Trail (Go, Joan!)
I took advantage of the location and went to the nearby Grand Mesa, often called the world’s largest flattop mountain in the world.
Rising 6,000 ft about Grand Junction, it makes an escape from the heat and is a perfect place for a quick overnighter.
We’ve done some trips here over the years, including a particularly memorable one.
The quiet, the views, and the relative closeness to home make it a place we always return to see.
