Gear Review: UCO Utility Spork 3-in-1 Combo Spoon-Fork-Knife

Joan and I have had a UCO Utility spork since 2019.

It’s a modest item we purchased at a local outdoor store, and it’s one of those items we use so much that we, frankly, forget about it in some ways.

The spork lives in our daypacks, and another’s part of our permanent car camping kits.  Like other pieces of gear I’ve enjoyed over the years, it’s nothing fancy – just a simple, reliable piece of gear that does its job with little futz.

The design is straightforward: spoon on one end, fork on the other, with a slight serrated edge that doubles as a light-duty knife. It’s not going to slice hard cheese ike a traditional knife, but it’ll handle yogurt, pasta, leftovers, or a packet of tuna just fine. For typical trail or camp food, it gets the job done without fuss. Our major use case for this utensil is packing in leftovers for a day hike from home or some post-trail noshing after a weekend of backpacking. Or making a quick cup of joe on our tailgate before driving home.

They are lightweight at less than 0.5 oz / 14 g (I suspect I’ll use one in my backpacking kit at some point), durable, and easy to clean. And because they come in a four-pack, you can stash one in a few different kits easily at little cost. Bought this way, they are $3 each and quite an affordable tool.

Is it Instagram-worthy gear? No. Is it titanium? Also no.

But for many trips, it’s precisely the kind of simple gear I like: reliable, simple, not expensive, and always there when I need it.

Overall?  Solid utility. Low cost. High reliability. One of those small things that quietly earned a permanent spot in our kit.

Disclosure – We purchased the utensils with our funds.
