Some La Sals camping

After an unprecedented amount of luxury for Joan and me, we needed a more laid-back trip.

A trip where we’d enjoy the simple pleasures of being out in the cool mountain air, watching a sunset, and hiking in the alpine tundra.

We camped for two nights at a favorite place, not far from where I’m typing.

A friend joined us the second night, but we had the area almost entirely to ourselves.

Our local mountains don’t get the use of the Colorado Rockies or even the Unitas near Salt Lake.

But the quiet, the lack of marquee destinations, and lesser-known areas make it the perfect place for a quick and relaxing summer getaway for us.
