As I’ve mentioned many times in recent years, our trips follow a framework, but within the framework, we rarely follow the original plans.
Another trip where we did some “structured rambling.”
Our wonderful, relaxing, and enjoyable first night of camping went as planned.
A way to end the week, decompress from work, and get ready for the backpacking ahead.
However, the backpacking did not go entirely as planned.
Oh, we enjoyed ourselves because how could we not be in the stunning area of the Colorado Plateau?
Our first trip idea changed due to a road now a stream and a side canyon that had signs of travel in the past, but it was more of a bushwhacking extravaganza.
You can take the boy out of the East Coast…
No matter.
We changed our plans and have an excellent loop with outstanding views and signs that we did not travel this path first.
The trip did not go as per our original idea.
But it did not matter.
All in all, another memorable weekend in Southeast Utah.
I see in the photo that your wife has both a hat and an umbrella. Is the umbrella just to reduce heat gain?
Joan states “Yes to both!” Meaning, being of fair complexion, the extra sun protection very much warranted esp in teh desert. It also helps a LOT with heat.
