Coyote Gulch is a classic backpacking trip in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Here is my  trip report of an ~28 mile loop I did there over Thanksgiving Weekend.

@ramblinghemlock and I went on a cold-weather camp @ramblinghemlock and I went on a cold-weather camping trip, during which we did some sleuthing via academic journals and found a Chacoan Great House and a road alignment with other structures in the area. Potsherds from points south attested to this area's prominence after the habitation peak. ... Additionally, we saw the usual grand scenery of this unique area we call home. .. It certainly feels like the unofficial start of the cold weather camping season on the Colorado Plateau. .. At 5 p.m., it is dark, and we wear layers of down, drink lots of hot drinks, and read in our cozy tent as the mercury drops, which means it is transitioning to winter and away from fall. .. #hiking #camping #utah

@ramblinghemlock and I spent a weekend volunteerin @ramblinghemlock and I spent a weekend volunteering at an aid station for the Bears Ears Marathon (Blanding to Bluff). A grass-roots race with good community involvement. We worked an aid station sponsored by Utah SHPO. Two of our friends ran the race, including @hollywoulddream It was so great to cheer her on and meet her parents afterward! ... Before the race, we camped on an obscure road with an excellent site with fantastic views. In contrast to previous weekends, the weather seemed better further south than in cold and rainy Moab. We spent a fantastic night at a campground and saw places we had not seen in a while. ... #utah #hiking #camping #running #petrolglyphs

Three days on the Hayduke through the Needles. I d Three days on the Hayduke through the Needles. I did a variation of this stretch back in 2017 on my across Utah walk. The Rustler Canyon stretch into Needles certainly appears to have more use (social trail, cairns) vs. even seven years ago. ... There was beautiful scenery, gorgeous weather, and even a comet at night.
