Joan and I spent a weekend volunteering at an aid station for the Bears Ears Marathon (Blanding to Bluff).
It is a grass-roots race with good community involvement. We worked at an aid station sponsored by Utah SHPO.
Two of our friends ran the race, including our good friend Holly. It was so great to cheer her on and meet her parents afterward!
Before the race, we camped on an obscure road with an excellent site with fantastic views, but also by a large complex that’s now obscure but seems important in the past.
It seems every canyon has something intriguing on many levels.
In contrast to previous weekends, the weather seemed better further south than in cold and rainy Moab.
We spent a fantastic second night at a nearby campground and saw familiar and new places.
It was not our typical weekend but an enjoyable one in many ways.
Thanks for sharing. I don’t usually comment but did want to say that I always appreciate your posts. As a Canadian I find them an excellent way for me to reconnect with that wonderful part of the world that is Southern Utah.
Thx for the kind words and glad you enjoy the posts!
