Some volunteering and camping

Joan and I did some volunteer work with an organization we’re active with this past weekend, and we turned it into a local camping trip in between assignments.

It gave us a chance to revisit some familiar places and spot a few we’ll need to see more closely next time.

After getting a new volunteer oriented, we found a place to camp for the evening.

The high desert or the high plains?

We followed an escarpment that had caught our eye before and finally had time to wander along it.

One spot we’d seen previously revealed a clearer connection beyond the modern roads.

Maybe even an old ghost road.

We made our way back to camp, watched the sunset on the La Sal Mountains, and settled into the evening.

The next morning, we met up with other volunteers in a familiar spot.

Another local weekend, but our backyard isn’t bad.

In the right place, we can spend a whole day out and not see anyone.

Not a grand trip or anything epic. Just a couple of days close to home, doing some good work, and poking around places have a few stories to tell. Turns out that’s more than enough.
