I recently had an opportunity to interview for an IT gig in New Mexico that would require moving to Santa Fe.
I love New Mexico – The culture, the food (YES!), and the amazing landscape. A 500-mile walk through this area is among my favorite walks.
However, after much discussion with Joan, I canceled my interview.
We love this area that we call home too much.
We’ve made a community here, we own a home here, and we fell in love with this equally rich landscape in culture and history (though not as good food or craft beer, alas).
On a Friday, we took a hike mere minutes from our home.
A place that always intrigues us with what we can see around the turning of the canyon wall.
We wander out of the canyon and along the rims and see the familiar from a different point of view.
Then, we went on a backpacking trip, where we introduced friends to well-known places and places that were also new to us.
The familiar always amazes us or people who’ve never seen the images.
We do some structured rambling, walk among the canyons, and let our friends see how we enjoy the Utah backcountry.
We found a place we call home. And there’s no chance we’ll leave at this point.

Is moving to Cortez off the table?
Cortez is within our orbit and if the right opportunity came up we’d do it!
