All life is politics and not free of it. IF you want to live in a vacuum, that is your choice as well. I've never been shy of sharing my opinions. Nor should it be a surprise.

Nice thing about being a person who does not make most of his income from the outdoors? I can freely share my opions here. And not really care who reads it or not.

Paul,
Well, it's your blog. And, I believe in the First Amendment. I'm a lapsed Catholic myself....mostly due to the Church's pedophilia and its cover-up of same. The Church lost it's moral authority over me (and, from my POV, over everyone). But, I read blogs like yours in the hopes of finding posts free of politics, and free from religion-shaming, and free from all of the other crap on the web. I've learned that that is not the case for your blog, so I've removed it from my Feedly.

Actually, it very much made my point. The judgemental, no room for nuance, and looking at transgressions as a black-and-white sin with no room alternative views is very much part of Catholic dogma.
Remember, my last is "Magnanti." Catholicism is very much part of my cultural DNA.

I am all too familiar with how Catholicism allows little room for shades of gray in the discussion. The very core of Catholic doctrine, the Nicene Creed, teaches that there is only one true church. Implying there is no other way. In addition to the Catholic "guilt and punishment" that is the bedrock of the culture. Very similar to the new Green Catholicism I see.

As with many former Catholics, I recognize the impact it has had one me. To quote a more famous Italian-American: "I’m a lapsed Catholic. But I am Roman Catholic – there’s no way out of it. "

You can read more of my thoughts on this seeming contradiction here that I wrote earlier: <a href="https://pmags.com/catholicism-the-sacred-mystery-and-nature">"Catholicism, the Sacred Mystery, and Nature"</a>

Thanks! I think the hard questions tend to get minimized in favor of slogans on bumper stickers. :)
