Yet More Skiing!

Another season of skiing..and another season of fun! Skinning up and (attempting to? 😉  ) making turns, putting on the wax and gliding along in the backcountry, cresting the ridge and enjoying the views. Even did a little moonlit walk that was kinda fun. 😉

Here are some the skis I've been up to in the past month or so. Not all trips are listed..just the ones with photos. 🙂

We had a fine day of tele/AT skiing at Butler Gulch on President's Day…

My rudimentary tele skills have made a big improvement this past season. The gorgeous deep powder, untracked runs, gorgeous views and having it all to ourselves certainly helped!

D-low, Wendy, Christi and I just loved the blue-bird sky, the sunshine and those fantastic views to the divide.

It was one of the better ski days I've had!

After missing out on it last year, we finally did the Peaks Trail again.

The amazing snow conditions made for a quick tour. The smiles were worn all day and we received some rather nice views of the nearby mountains for most of the day.

The following day, we had some fresh powder to ski down near St. Vrain mountain. Another fun day!

And another trip where I caught up with my friend Matt. As with me, Matt is a Rhody transplant. We get together every so often to catchup while in the backcountry.  We decided to ski up near Jones Pass not far from the CDT.

Most people opt for Butler Gulch due to the snowmobiles allowed on the road heading up to the pass. Well, we only saw two snowmobilers and had the area mainly to ourselves. The snow was OK, but we did have some fun skiing in some wide open areas, a little tree skiing and then heading back on the road.

The views weren't bad, either! 🙂

A quick pit stop at Tommy Knockers in Idaho Springs capped off a great day!

Here's to some more Spring skis on tap. Bring on the corn snow!

All the photos…
