Yeah, trying them out on series of day or even weekend trips is probably a good way to go vs multi-day trip. I normally ski in Colorado for my backcountry trips. The trail runners in the high foothills tend to be the microspike users. Let me know how the budget ones work! I’m always looking for some good budget items.

The way it’s storming here in California, I made need to take microspikes on all of my hikes this year. The passes may not be clear in July. I’ll try to give them a good work out. I wouldn’t want to be a lab rat on a trip either, I just figured why not chance it as cheap as they were.

Ah! If only I saw this comment before. 🙂 I am to grand canyon start of next month. I did not want to be the lab rat for them esp on a six-day trip. So I went with the Hillsound ultra. Curious to see a longer term review.
