I continued to enjoy the extended warm weather in Colorado and did a foothill hike in Roxborough state park.

A small park, but it does coincide with nearby USFS lands in the Pikes National Forest.

All together, my friends and I did a nice ~16 mile loop on a beautiful late fall day.

The same rock formations found in Lost Creek Wilderness, Garden of the Gods and of course the Red Rocks Amphitheater are found in this park.

Despite being so close the Denver metro area, it was a quiet park.

You could see the edge of the plains gradually meeting the foothills.

The last of the wildflowers were present…

And the divide is starting to gather a covering of snow…

As we ended the trip, the soft light of the late afternoon gave the red rocks a warm glow as we were headed back to the visitors center.

But sometimes even a couple of hours is good enough.

As mentioned previously, I work in IT for my day job.

While IT work is not my passion by any means, if I have the right job, I can enjoy it. It pays the bills and allows my someone and I to enjoy the parts of life that are our passion.

Occasionally, due to the nature of the work, I do have to work at nights or weekends.

I won’t bore anyone with the details, but I was on point for a migration project that took place late into Friday evening. I also had to check in a few times over the weekend with other people involved with the project to see if there were any issues.

My weekend was pretty shot. I had to be in easy reach of online access.

Fall is perhaps my favorite season. So when I was asked by the Continental Divide Trail Coalition to write something about fall hikes on the CDT, I was more than happy to help out.

Gregory Mountain Products is doing a very good job in helping to promote various outdoor organizations. Many thanks.

In any case, here’s the article I wrote. Hope you enjoy!

The first place someone and I lived together was a ten minute walk along a bike path to a neighborhood bar and grill.

The food was good and solid. Never terribly expensive. There were convenient happy hours and the limited, but good, beer menu provided some beverages to quench the thirst. The small booths and nooks and crannies of the place allowed for quiet conversation vs other, noisier, watering holes. The bar area itself was great for meeting some nearby friends for a pint or two and a chance to catch up.

It was a place I never considered among my favorite places in Boulder, but it was place that was fairly frequently visited. A place to go before we headed out on trips, and did not wish to cook or go grocery shopping. Or it was Friday night and neither one of wished to drive and we wanted to just relax.
