Thank you for “The River” recommendation my library had an ebook copy. McPhee’s “Encounters with the Arch Druid” always stuck with me. I’ll check out the documentary, we have a lot of indoor time here in the East.

In reply to Jeff McWilliams. After I published this review, Gordon notified me that the shuttle services ended. I forgot about this line in my review. And yes, at this time you need to hitch/bus it. Vernal UT is a small town so the shuttle services come and go from season to season. Perhaps by the summer of 2020 (assuming hiking can be done) it will be available again. I have edited this review. I’m confused. Here you say there are shuttle services available now which makes the logistics of doing the trail a lot easier.

But at your page for the trail, there are posts indicating Wilkins Bus is no longer in service. The only option left according to your page is a combination of hitchhiking and Greyhound bus hopping, which seems less than optimal.
