Could not agree more about the Frogg Toggs Poncho. SoCal doesn’t get that much rain but when it does, I love the poncho. I had to get used to doing every thing under the poncho but that took about 15 nano seconds. How versatile. And it covers my pack.
I don’t use but one hiking stick and that rather seldom. So sometimes I take my Six Moons design umbrella.

Two other options worth mentioning:
--Frogg Toggs makes a poncho that some may want to look at. Same basic advantages of the suit--light & cheap--with the advantages of a poncho. I've enjoyed mine in warm & humid conditions.

--I'm not in the market for new rain gear right now, but I keep coming back to The Packa (thepacka.com) as a strong contender next time around. It is pretty brilliant: part jacket; part poncho; part pack cover. "Shug" on YouTube has a good demonstration of it (also viewable currently on The Packa homepage; scroll down to bottom). Not mentioned in the video is the fact that the pack straps are underneath instead of smashing the jacket so air moves freely. To each their own, of course, but the more I thought about it the more benefits I saw and the more problems it solved. But that would be too long a post...
