Ha! My wife feels he same way about my military “puffy pants” as your feels about your Columbia fleece..meaning “Do I have to wear those in public??”. Don’t know why.. 😉

My father bought a long wool coat for the London winters in the 50s, then wore it for the once or twice a year when it got near freezing in Johannesburg. I’ve worn it in CO winters for twenty years. Now my son has poached it, since he likes to dress sharp, just as his grandpa did.. have to find a new coat for myself. Filson you say ? ha.

Weighed my wife’s old down jacket after a backpack, it was nearly 5lbs. Hm. Bought her a half-pound Ghost Whisperer for backpacking, but she wears it everywhere.. annoys me, by the time that light weight and warmth are really needed on a backpack, it will need replacement.. though I will admit the old puffy was not very stylish at all.

No doubt. A very practical garment. Though, I am thankful for the Filson. Probably (other than the Commodore 64 given so many years ago; it launched my current career), my most memorable birthday present. Received at 30, still use at 41, think it will still look good at 50.
