In part this is because Rubin is a skillful writer, but it’s also because he loves the A.T. The hiker/writer balance is perfect, just like Colin Fletcher.

Bryson (partial A.T.) and Strayed (partial P.C.T.) are strong writers, but the hiker/writer balance isn’t quite the same.
