Ah! That makes sense. Chris sold off the company recently but the new owners are long-time ULA employees. I suspect the excellent customer service will continue.

CORRECTION: Chris at ULA suggested the “S” straps, not “J”. That was a typo. I’ve been very happy with the S straps.

I purchased a Cicuit a couple years ago and have been extremely pleased with it. I max out at 35 lbs. (I like my adult beverages) and it handles that much weight like a champ. I was unsure about which straps to order so I contacted ULA and they had me send them a photo of my torso front and back. Surprisingly, Chris responded by saying I had somewhat of a “barrel” chest (huh, really?) and he suggested I go with the J straps. I was hesitant, but figured he knew what he was talking about. I love this pack and plan on taking it either on the High Uintas or Colorado Trail. Never had to pack for more than a 3 night trip thus far, so it will be interesting to see how it does on a weeklong hike.

I use the standard "j straps." While I do have a broad chest it is not particularly large in proportion to my body. Having said that: I heard some men use the S strap successfully. I'd give the folks at ULA a shout and see what they say.

I too have the Gimli body shape. I have a Circuit with the J straps and they tend to rub the inside of my arms. Do you use the J strap or the S strap? I made a slight modification to the strap connected to the hip belt so that the angle coming up from the hip to the shoulder strap is more vertical. It seems to work but I have been considering switching to the S strap but would be disappointed if I paid to switch straps and still had the rubbing. What are your thoughts?
