Thank you so much for the detailed assessment. I’m preparing to hike Half Dome at Yosemite later this year and had narrowed my choices to the Ultra or Crest. This article was just what I needed to finalize my decision

In reply to T_Rez. Not long after I wrote this article, I managed to find four pairs online of the Ultra 3s in my size. I bought 'em up! I am down to three pairs (including one I wear currently.) When I get down to one spare pair, I'll need to track down another pair of shoes. I, too, head very mixed reviews of the Ultra 4s. It almost seems like a different shoe.

I’ll be very interested to read what you have to say about the Ultra 4’s … I have been seeing very mixed reviews. Some Ultra old timers are not happy ….
