If you are coming from out of state, or ~1 hr or more from an area, not a good idea to travel for backpacking.
Colorado currently has “stay at home orders”, too.

Going next week may not be a good idea. Fall should be great though. The Canyon of the Ancients Visitors Center has a free map that shows where dispersed camping is allowed. There’s a mix of private/public property in the monument, so a very handy map!

Hi there- I know this is an old post, but curious your thoughts on good dispersed camping within the BLM/Canyons of the Ancients area. Did you find any? I am heading there next week for an overnighter!.
