Silverton Hardware would like to update our through hiker information from above. We are no longer able to accept USPS or Fed-Ex packages as we are now an official UPS access point. Also, all packages shipped to our 740 Greene St Silverton CO 71433 address via UPS must be picked up within 7 days or we have to return them to UPS. This is out of our control now, as an access point. We are, however, stocking more fuel, freeze-dried food, meal bars, electrolytes, and first aid than we have ever carried in the past for hikers. Our phone number is (970) 387-5774 if you want to call us with questions.
Thank you,
Dana & Jerry

I'd pick up the official <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Colorado-Trail-Mountain-Club-Guidebooks/dp/1937052338/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&qid=1624465600&refinements=p_27%3AColorado+Trail+Foundation&s=books&sr=1-2&text=Colorado+Trail+Foundation" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Colorado Trail Guidebook by the CT</a>F and see what looks good for you based on logistics, elevation gain, and preference. Perfect for the question you are asking. The San Juan sections, overall, end up as the most scenic. Have fun!

I’ve never hiked the CT, but am planning a 1 week trip. Like views and peaks (can manage 15 miles/day fairly comfortably). What sections would you recommend I choose to hike?

In reply to <a href="https://pmags.com/colorado-trail-end-to-end-guide-2#comment-697984">David</a>.

My pleasure, David!

I can't think of one off-hand, but there are enough network of trails/jeep roads in that area where you could probably put together something. Could be an an "in and out", or something that gets off the CT and then reconnects if you are not too concerned about "purity" (I tend to not care about that concept myself! :D) It will be a bit off the beaten path, however.

Hi Paul,

This website is such an amazing resource! Thanks for putting it together.

Is there a popular detour to Telluride? Quickly looking at the Colorado Trail map, the trail swings south towards Durango before getting to Telluride. I'd love to detour off the CT and stop in Telluride on the way to Durango. Know of anywhere that talks about doing a Telluride detour or is the terrain not really conducive for a detour? Thanks!
