And now for something completely different…

I was checking on a Colorado Trail Facebook forum, and I see this question:

FB PMags doppleganger

The astute reader will notice that the person’s profile photo looks a bit like this thru-hiker from 2006:

Yep. That’s me on my CDT thru-hike back in 2006.

This “Steven Dobbs” decided to use an old photo of mine as a profile photo. Some person created the profile a few short days ago.

I complimented Steven on the uncanny likeness of the profile photo in its resemblance to me from ten years ago. 🙂

I noticed this reply in the  cache of my tablet after midnight…which is why it says “Yesterday”

I heard nothing but crickets in response…

Alas, the thread is gone. Off into a cyberspace black hole.

Not to be confused with an older Disney movie.

I don’t think I’ll ever know why a person chose a ten-year-old photo of me. I’m probably better off not knowing.

Short, hairy and dirty thru-hikers must be a new look or something that is in vogue perhaps.

A very diligent friend of mine did some cyber-sleuthing and found a very odd (!?) SciFi story about a man named Steven Dobbs who finds some aliens in the Colorado backcountry. The last sentence in this story involves an orgasm. ‘Nuff said.

All I can hope for is that I don’t turn up in some very awkward Colorado hiker fan fiction.  Yeesh.

A still common dialect word in use from where I grew up just may be appropriate for this situation… skeevy.   🙂

Hilarious and weird. At least he didn’t steal your identity.

I wonder if he was aware that you were the person in that photo.
