I wrote a short article for the American Long Distance Hiker’s Association – West about winter backpacking. The article is more of a “Why?” as opposed to “How?” but there are some tips for getting into winter backpacking initially without breaking the bank.
In any case, it is a quick read that some may find interesting.
Do you happen to have ALDHA West article anywhere else? That link is broken and I didn’t see a search available on their website. I see some back issues of The Gazette but not sure which one to look in – and being a little lazy by not opening everyone and searching… 🙂
Looks like the back issue does not exist, but I updated the link with a cache from the Wayback Machine. https://web.archive.org/web/20181113153029/http://www.aldhawest.org/Gazette/4600790
Ah. I should have thought of that! Thank you! 🙂 Thank you for the good articles you write. They are helpful!
Just re-read the article. I like the approach. I want to be able to do some winter camping but don’t want to spend a bunch of money. I really like the ideas for extending what I already have. Thank you again!
My.pleasure! And thanks for the kind words.
