Hey there,

Glad you enjoyed the Podcast. Skyline certainly gets out there!

It’s about 16 miles from the airport to downtown. While biking can work, it’s not ideal along a busy highway with distracted tourists. Hitching, local shuttles, or Turo, which is basically Airbnb for cars, are your best bets. Once you’re in town, renting a bike is easy and makes a great way to get around and see Moab itself.

Another option is to tap into the race crowd. A lot of people come through Moab for events, so ultra-specific Reddit or Facebook groups might help you snag a ride or even sort out transportation around town.

As for hiking or peak bagging the day after the race, it's nice in the desert but not the peaks for hiking. The La Sals usually hold snow, so peak tagging generally isn’t advisable then. What you can realistically do depends a lot on whether you have wheels. If not, sticking closer to town is usually the simpler option. The Hiking Project can help narrow down possibilities based on access.

Hope the race goes well, and enjoy your time out here!

Hey PMags -- I'll be in town the last weekend of February for the Red Hot Ultra right outside of Moab and I figured it couldn't hurt to go to you with questions! What would you recommend as the best way for me to get around town / get from CNY to downtown? It seems like rental vehicles are tricky to come by (strange hours), the shuttle is quite pricy... would you recommend trying to rent a bicycle?

I would love to be able to get out and do a hike or tag some peaks the day after the race on Sunday... but that would require a car. Tricky balance! I'd love your input, in my mind you are the Mr. Moab :)

Love your website and loved your podcast with the Trek! Skyline says hi, by the way... I met him hiking in Shenandoah just recently!
